How to fix low quality video

See the tutorial on Lynda.com for Fixing Video Exposure Problems in Premiere Pro CC with Richard Harrington. Very helpful!

Helpful strategies:

  • Fast Color Corrector in Video Effects – use the split view option
  • Adjustment Layer – if you need to fix many clips with the same problem. Click New Item>Adjustment Layer. Place it over your footage and drag the video effects onto it.
  • Auto contrast – in Effects Adjust category
  • Auto levels – also in Effects Adjust category
  • Auto color effect – also in Effects Adjust category
  • The Levels effect – also in Effects Adjust category (a little nonintuitive)
  • Shadow Highlight Effect – also in Effects Adjust category
  • Lighting Effect – also in Effects Adjust category (very cool, can change lighting!

Video Effects>Color Correction Category:

  • Brightness and Contrast Effect – for underexposed or overexposed video
  • Fast Color Corrector – really useful
  • Three-way Color Corrector – lots of control
  • Luma Corrector – for underexposed or overexposed video
  • Lumetri Color – lots of options
